Pocket Reference Journals Premieres CD Audio Book for Newly Diagnosed Diabetics

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) March 25, 2008 -- Pocket Reference Journals, a seasoned publishing company that produces pocket -sized journals has just released its first CD Audio Book for newly diagnosed diabetics called "My Pocket Doctor" A Reference Guide and Journal.

This CD is upbeat, inspirational, and helpful for educating the "newbie". It's an expanded adaptation of the book on disease terminology with easy to understand descriptions. There's information on blood glucose testing, insulin facts, pills, new medications, dining out, illness complications, as well as such other important social issues such as traveling, leisure and exercise, and smoking and alcohol, and more. Publisher turned producer Bonnie L. Schachter says "there's not much on the market for people who prefer to learn thru listening, so I just thought it's the way I would want to learn, and assume there are many more people like me out there".

The CD talks to you as if you were in a conversation, not at all like most educational CD's. Sylvia Hernandez, Registered Dietitian, and Certified Diabetes Educator sounds like the educator you wish you had, and is one of the authors narrating. Any newly diagnosed diabetic that's just been informed that they have diabetes should be running to get this CD. It makes learning just a lot more interesting, and friendly, on what can be a very frightening experience regarding changing lifetime habits . Self-management is the key to living a happy, and healthy life, and learning as much as you can will improve your outcomes.

Bonnie L. Schachter not only produced the CD but narrates on several of the tracks. She's highly motivational. Upon hearing that her mother has diabetes, and it runs in her family, it's no wonder why she produced a CD that she'd be proud to learn from.

"My Pocket Doctor" also recently won an Award from the National Health Information Association. The reference journal won in the category of Patient Education, and was chosen from among 1,000 entries.

The CD is also perfect for use in diabetes support groups, or to be used in conjunction with lifestyle and dietary management programs via hospitals or hmo's. It is also being sold online thru several independent living aids stores, diabetes supply companies, Mother's Markets, and will be available from audible.com soon.

This CD is also "blind- friendly" and can be ordered with a Braille label. In addition, there is also a Contracted Braille edition. An audio sampler is also available on their website. The running time is 1 hour. Suggested retail is $12.50, and you may order online at www.pocketreferencejournals.com or contact them at 714.914.2565 or email them at bonnie @ pocketreferencejournals.com.
